Nuweiba
Nuweiba is located on the east coast of the Sinai about 45 miles south of the border with Egypt. Stretching over a 6 mile stretch of coast, the city is divided up into 3 parts; Nuweiba Tarabin which is to the north. There is a shallow bay and the ruins of a Turkish fort. Along the beach are lively outdoor restaurants where you can relax and let the time pass. The Town area is frequently visited by tourists and features bazaars, shops and a taste of the local life. For many years, the area has been inhabited by local Bedouin. Nuweiba Port (or Nuweiba Muzeina) is the industrial and trading area connecting Egypt to other countries in the Gulf of Aqaba.
The nearest airport is Taba International Airport which is 45 miles to the north giving a transfer time of 1 hour 20 minutes. Alternatively, Sharm el Sheikh airport to the south has more flight connections but at 110 miles, it is much further away. If a transfer is not included as part of your holiday, there is a bus service from Cairo, Sharm or Taba. Once in Nuweiba, you can either get round on foot or by taxi.
This laid back resort is ideal for people who are looking for a unique holiday off the beaten track. The shallow reefs around Nuweiba are ideal for snorkeling and the fantastic shore diving makes it an ideal place if you are a learner or a keen underwater photographer.
